About the Role

This role will be managing the Cyber Security team within the Risk Advisory Service Line based in Sydney. The team provides core cyber services in the areas of governance risk and compliance, as well as cyber awareness training.

Current opportunity

This is a client-facing role which requires a strong technical and leadership background and will be responsible for the delivery of Cyber Security projects. You will foster a culture that values good quality and risk management practices and demonstrate a strong commitment to delivering exceptional service outcomes for internal and external clients.

What you'll be doing:

  • L ead the delivery of governance risk and compliance (GRC) projects that are technical in nature .
  • Work with the team to grow the Cyber security capability and services, covering: Security strategy, architecture, and roadmaps
  • Cyber security health checks against better practice standards ( e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, ACSC Essential 8, etc.)
  • NSW Cyber Security Policy and APRA CPS 234 compliance advisory
  • Collaborate and represent Australia within the BDO Global Security community
  • Support Partners with client business development and drafting of proposals and engagement letters
  • S upervise and deliver complex cyber services and finalise assignments at a high level for Partner sign-off.
  • Constructively challenge the status quo for improvement within own scope of influence of the team and firm.
  • Help to build team performance at both an individual and team level and p rovide support and development opportunities to team members at all levels.
  • Actively support the Partners in the management of the team

About you

Our ideal candidate comes from a professional services background combined with:

  • Strong commitment to delivering exceptional service outcomes for internal and external clients.
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Ability to build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships at all levels
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Be active within the cyber security industry and community to stay on-top of latest technical security industry trends and building out your network
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, particularly Outlook, Teams, Word, and Excel
