Description

Based in Sydney, Australia, you will join a team working to expand Aurora’s electricity grid modelling capability across the Asia-Pacific region. You will partake in consulting engagements, quantitatively analysing energy markets and transmission systems, and convey insights to enhance clients’ decision making. You will play an active role in all aspects of client engagement: helping identify issues, forming hypotheses, conducting analysis, and synthesising conclusions into recommendations.

The successful applicant will combine technical strength with a strong track record of leadership and performance in team-oriented environments.

The successful candidate will work in a dynamic, intellectually stimulating, and demanding yet supportive environment. The position suits a recent graduate of an Electrical Engineering (or related discipline) bachelor’s or master’s programme.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the research and modelling of high-voltage transmission systems across the APAC region, to enable better analysis of the energy transition
  • Engage with clients across consulting engagements, performing power-flow analysis, developing timely and rigorous quantitative reports to enhance clients’ decision making
  • Work closely with our modelling team, quantifying electrical engineering challenges and deriving insights from model results
  • Contribute to our product development, by identifying new opportunities and expanding our capabilities
  • Communicate findings to clients

What we are looking for

Required attributes:
  • First-class or high second-class degree from a top university in Electrical Engineering (or related discipline)
  • An ability to collect, analyse and interpret complex quantitative data and information.
  • Evidence of strong performance in team-oriented environments
  • An ability to communicate and collaborate with both technical and non-technical parties
Desirable attributes:
  • Competence in advanced data analytics (e.g. Python, R, Matlab, Advanced Excel, GAMS)
  • Experience with power-flow modelling, interpreting single-line-diagrams (SLDs) and using standard industry software (e.g. DIgSILENT Power Factory, PSS/E, PowerWorld etc.)
  • Proficiency in languages other than English, especially Korean, Japanese, or other South-East Asian languages
