How You Can Make a Difference

Are you a passionate communicator with a knack for connecting people to purpose? Heart Foundation is seeking an experienced Internal Communications Lead to champion our internal storytelling and employee engagement strategies during a 12-month parental leave cover.


You will be instrumental in shaping how our people connect with the Foundation’s mission, values, and strategic goals. You'll work across the organisation to craft and deliver impactful communication that informs, inspires and fosters a strong, inclusive culture.


Due to parental leave, this role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term basis (0.8 FTE). You will have the opportunity to work flexibly, blending your time between home and one of our capital city offices.


What You’ll Do

  • Lead the development and execution of internal communications strategies and plans.
  • Partner with leaders to support consistent, transparent messaging.
  • Produce engaging content across intranet, newsletters, video, emails and presentations.
  • Manage and optimise internal communication channels.
  • Drive employee engagement through events, campaigns and recognition programs.
  • Provide guidance on best-practice communications and facilitate training where needed.
  • Stay ahead of trends, tools and innovations in internal communications.


What You'll Bring

  • A tertiary qualification in communications or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong experience in internal communications within a medium-to-large organisation.
  • Proficiency in tools like Junglemail (or similar EDM platforms) and SharePoint.
  • Confidence working independently with sound judgement and discretion.
  • Excellent writing, storytelling and stakeholder engagement skills.


Bonus Points For

  • Design skills using Canva or Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Visual presentation and/or video editing experience.
