We currently have an exciting opportunity in our Life & Health subsidiary in Sydney which plays a major part in the success of Hannover Re globally.

We are seeking a Head of IT to join our team. The role will be a permanent position reporting directly to our Chief Operating Officer.

About The Role

As Head of IT you will be responsible for supporting HLR Australia (HLR Aus) and other Global entities in Australia in managing Information Technology capabilities.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Actively contributing to and guiding Group and local IT and IS strategies in line with Group and Australasian businesses strategies
  • Leading the architecture, security, software development, infrastructure and IT support for Australasian based businesses, in line with Group requirements
  • Leading and implementing the Information Security Regulatory requirements and ensuring their ongoing robust and effective operation (CPS 234, CPG 234, ISO 27001, NIST, and CPG 235)
  • Leading, implementing and ensuring the ongoing robust and effective operation of the IT components of Disaster Recovery, Business Continuity Management and Crisis Management
  • Guiding and leading Business transformation projects from an IT perspective
  • Creating and contributing to Business cases for Executive committee
  • Responsible for managing IT Third party Supplier, Regulator and Stakeholder Management
  • Staying abreast of new IT trends and considering applicability to IT and IS strategies
  • Effectively manage IT Budget
  • Creating Board reporting as needed and providing advice to Board and Executive Committees
  • Ensuring local service desk is operating smoothly, and SLAs are being met

About You

Experience & Qualifications:

  • Undergraduate degree in Information Technology
  • People and relationship management skills
  • Working knowledge of Information Security Regulatory requirements and their application and effective operation (CPS 234, CPG 234, ISO 27001, NIST, and CPG 235)
  • Strategic thinking capabilities and the ability to liaise at Board and senior level
  • Excellent organisation, attention to detail and ability to prioritise effectively
  • Clear and effective communication both written and verbal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team
