About the Role:

We are seeking a Project Coordinator for a Permanent- Full Time placement.


The Salvation Army International Development (SAID) team is dispersed across Australia. The primary office is THQ Redfern, NSW. Applications will be accepted and considered from candidates who are based at other locations within Australia.


Purpose of the Role:

To successfully coordinate International Community Development projects with The Salvation Army (TSA) Implementing Partners across the entire project life cycle, ensuring projects are fully compliant and aligned to the SAID Strategic Action plan, best practice and SAID’s Theory of Change.


Key Roles and Responsibilities:


Project Coordination

  • Support and guide community development projects from planning through to evaluation.
  • Work closely with partners to ensure projects align with SAID values and deliver meaningful impact.
  • Monitor progress, provide technical support, and promote continuous learning.
  • Help build partner capacity through coaching, training, and shared reflection.
  • Ensure projects are safe, compliant, and meet donor expectations, including DFAT.


Networking and Partnerships

  • Build trusted relationships with local and international partners to strengthen collaboration.
  • Liaise across TSA teams to support effective, integrated project delivery.
  • Represent SAID at sector events, meetings and workshops with professionalism and care.
  • Promote open communication and shared learning across stakeholders.
  • Help shape positive, long-term partnerships that benefit communities.


SAID Gender Equality Focal Point

  • Promote inclusive practices by embedding gender equality in project design and delivery.
  • Support the team with insights and advice on gender-related issues.
  • Stay current on best practices and apply them in practical, thoughtful ways.
  • Encourage programming that values all voices and promotes dignity.
  • Help foster a culture of inclusion and equity in everything we do.


Other Responsibilities

  • Create useful training tools and support the development of project systems.
  • Contribute to community development research and share findings with the team.
  • Support governance and compliance processes with clear, well-informed advice.
  • Assist with reporting requirements, including DFAT accreditation.
  • Bring curiosity, care and a commitment to lasting change to all you do.


About You:


Experience and Education

  • A degree in international development, social sciences, program management, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum three years’ experience (paid or voluntary) in international development.
  • Familiarity with ACFID Code of Conduct and DFAT accreditation standards.
  • Understanding of governance models in NGOs or the charity sector.


Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Awareness of key development issues, including gender equality, disability, environment, and child protection.
  • Strong planning, analytical and administrative skills with the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
  • Confident using Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders, including DFAT, ACFID, and implementing partners.


Communication and Flexibility

  • Excellent cross-cultural communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills and a collaborative working style.
  • Willingness to travel for a minimum of 60 days per year (domestic and international).
  • Flexible approach, including availability to work outside regular hours when required.
