The Team Leader plays a key role in the daily management of the Workers Compensation Team, primarily providing mentorship and support. They are responsible for ensuring the team operates efficiently, client matters progress promptly, and team members remain motivated and supported. This leadership role encompasses oversight, performance management, and guidance to align with their goals and expectations. The Team Leader will assist team members in managing their practices effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Management and Leadership:
  • Oversee daily operations of the Workers Compensation Team to ensure smooth functioning.
  • Mentor and support the lawyers, law clerks and support staff on both legal and administrative matters that arise.
  • Maintain a positive and motivated team environment, addressing any employee concerns promptly.
  • Proactively address and resolve client complaints and concerns.
  • Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
  • Assist management with strategic planning and goal setting.
  • Case Plan Reviews:
  • Review all case plans prepared by lawyers and law clerks for new clients and matters.
  • Provide constructive feedback to team members on case plans and approve them for execution.
  • Velocity Meetings:
  • Conduct monthly velocity meetings with each team member to ensure all matters are progressing efficiently and effectively.
  • Identify and address any bottlenecks or delays in case management.
  • File Audits:
  • Perform regular audits of random files to ensure compliance with the firm's standards and expectations.
  • Provide actionable feedback to team members based on audit findings to enhance performance.
  • KPI Reviews:
  • Meet fortnightly with each team member to review their performance against key performance indicators (KPIs), including billing and budget progress.
  • Provide guidance and support to help team members achieve their KPIs.
  • Big Rocks Meetings: Lead the weekly Monday morning "Big Rocks" meeting to identify key priorities for each team member for the week (for example the preparation and lodgment of an application to resolve a dispute (ARD)). Conduct quick check-ins on Wednesday and Friday to ensure progress and completion of identified priorities.
  • Reporting: Prepare and present fortnightly progress reports on team performance and KPIs. Highlight achievements, challenges, and recommendations for improvement.
  • Marketing and Business Development: Collaborate with the management team to support marketing initiatives and strategies aimed at acquiring new business for the Workers Compensation Team. Actively seek opportunities to promote the firm's services and enhance its market presence.
  • Training and Development: Identify training needs within the team and coordinate relevant professional development activities. Mentor and support team members in their career growth and skills enhancement.
  • Client Relationship Management: Ensure the highest level of client service and satisfaction is maintained across all team matters. Address escalated client concerns promptly and professionally.
