About the role We are seeking a values-driven Alcohol & Other Drugs Overdose Prevention Practitioner this role provides intensive, assertive care and recovery coordination to participants at high risk of overdose, ensuring they are actively supported and linked to appropriate services. It focuses on reducing drug-related harm through ongoing case management, education on harm reduction, overdose awareness, and recovery options Reporting to the Manager of intensive services this is a Permanent Full-time role, located in Bendigo, Victoria You will have:
- The ability to conduct comprehensive participant assessments, including risk and needs evaluations, using appropriate diagnostic tools and developing participant care plans with measurable goals that promote participant ownership.
- Skills to liaise with health professionals to gather relevant records and match participants to appropriate treatment services.
- Experience building effective relationships with participants to support their AOD treatment journey.
- The capability to deliver evidence-based, person-centred interventions within a recovery framework, tailored to the complexity of participant and family needs.
- Proficiency in developing, implementing, and reviewing individual treatment plans in collaboration with participants, ensuring regular monitoring and adjustment as needed.
- Experience in providing case management and harm reduction education, including overdose response planning, and supporting participants to access and advocate for services.
- The ability to build strong relationships with s participants and families using inclusive practices, and to support s participants in developing post-treatment plans and community support networks.
- A commitment to ongoing assessment from intake to exit, maintaining accurate records in line with TSA standards.
- Responsiveness to referrals, participation in team meetings, and collaboration with colleagues and external agencies.
- Awareness of participant and staff risks, with prompt reporting to the Manager Intensive Services, and the initiative to identify service gaps and suggest improvements.
- Willingness to assist with Therapeutic Day Rehab service delivery as requested.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree level qualifications in human services, social work, community services, or relevant area of study.
- Relevant experience in a similar role, preferably within the alcohol and other drug sector.
- AOD Skillset or willingness to undertake within the first 12 months of commencing employment

- A current and valid Working with Children Check
- A current Victorian Drivers licence
- A national police record check is required
