Roster: 14D/14R - FIFO ex Perth
Fortescue’s Cultural Heritage team is looking for a motivated Heritage Compliance Field Officer to ensure the protection and management of cultural heritage across our operations. This role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to comply with heritage laws and preserve cultural sites in line with Fortescue’s values.
Based in either the Western or Eastern Hub, the officer will facilitate heritage fieldwork, including consultations with Traditional Owners, present educational materials, ensure Land Use Certificate (LUC) compliance, investigate heritage non-compliance, and manage safety during field activities.
You will play a key role in meeting obligations under the Aboriginal Cultural Heritage Act, Social/Cultural Heritage Management Plans, Land Access Agreements, and other commitments, supporting Fortescue’s regulatory compliance and stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and monitor heritage surveys and field activities to ensure compliance with cultural heritage legislation and Fortescue’s heritage commitments.
Facilitate consultation with Traditional Owners and other stakeholders during heritage-related fieldwork activities, ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and best practices.
Present heritage educational material and raise awareness of cultural heritage protection across Fortescue’s operational teams and other stakeholders.
Investigate heritage non-compliance incidents and document findings to ensure proper corrective actions are taken.
Oversee and manage the safety of all personnel, including heritage consultants, Traditional Owners, and Fortescue staff, during heritage-related activities in the field.
Foster positive relations with key internal and external stakeholders to support operational and project objectives.
Qualifications and Experience
Ability to work safely and effectively within a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
Strong knowledge of heritage protection, land management, and Native Title laws.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other software tools; ability to quickly adapt to new software.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships across a range of stakeholders.
Flexible and able to work in a dynamic, changing environment with evolving project requirements.
