In this role as the Portfolio Lead, you will be a key contributor to the Market Development team, supporting the business in providing advice to our customers for their generation and major load connections by being responsible for the management and development of the portfolio of projects and initiatives to enable these opportunities in Victoria and inter-state.


This role can be based in Southbank and is part of the Market Development Team within the Development and Future Networks (DFN) division.



This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:


  • Progress the development of the portfolio of projects and activity streams related to Market Development
  • Collaborate with DFN teams to co-ordinate generator and load connection opportunities
  • Lead stakeholder engagement to support the implementation of the Contestable Connections projects and initiatives as required
  • Support commercial interests by developing business cases, network augmentation proposals, and feasibility studies for transmission grid and connection solutions, funding sourced internally or externally.
  • Provide insights and prepare response strategy to policy and industry reform initiatives by AEMO, AER, VicGrid, AEMC, CEC, and other relevant Victorian, national and inter-state industry parties.
  • Co-ordinate DFN’s response and advocacy with company’s Planning and Policy teams to industry development and alignment with the AusNet and DFN strategy
  • Represent AusNet Services in industry forums, working groups, and consultations as required
  • Prepare and present the responses, progress, learnings, impacts and opportunities from above industry participation to internal stakeholders.



You don’t need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:


  • Degree or equivalent with 7+ years’ professional experience or greater.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electricity network planning and National Electricity Rules
  • Experience in electricity industry in network planning, connection and some of the areas of asset engineering, asset management, or energy industry regulation
  • Excellent written, communication, reporting and presentation skills with ability to translate technical material to wider audience
  • Strong attention to detail and an analytical mindset
  • A high level of organisational skills and demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple tasks, set priorities, manage timeframes and meet deadlines under pressure
  • Good interpersonal skills that enable communication and work with all levels of internal stakeholders and external customers / suppliers / stakeholders
  • Ability to work within and contribute to a team with team members across various disciplines including stakeholder, commercial, technical and delivery
  • Proven accountability, responsibility and proactiveness for outcomes
