Barwon Water have a proud history supporting regional prosperity by providing excellence in water, sewerage and recycled water services to community for more than 110 years and services a region from Little River and the Bellarine Peninsula in the east, to Colac in the west, and from Meredith and Cressy in the north, to Apollo Bay on Victoria's south-west coast. Barwon Water deliver high-quality, affordable and reliable water services to more than 320,000 permanent residents - reaching up to 545,000 people during the peak holiday periods.
About the Role
Reporting to the Managing Director, the General Manager Customers, Community & Strategy will oversee key strategic and service functions, including Customer Service, Communications and Education, Community Engagement, Strategy and Performance. In this role, you will be responsible for developing a strong understanding of customer, community and stakeholder expectations, and shape corporate strategies that enhance customer and community experiences, reputation, value for money and overall performance.
You will work closely with the Executive Leadership Team to shape Barwon Water's 2030 Strategy, ensuring a strong focus on customer centricity, innovation, financial sustainability and long-term resilience in a changing environment. You will also lead the delivery of pricing period customer outcomes and the development of the next Price Submission, due in 2028.
A key focus of the role will be embedding the organisation's corporate brand "we care" with an emphasis on continuous engagement to address global challenges, population growth and equity divides. This includes leadership of all major customer channels, such as the Voice of Customer, Customer Affordability, and Hardship Programs. This role is also responsible for the internal and external corporate communications and education programs. Success in this role will be your ability to engage the broader organisation, align strategic priorities and foster shared ownership of goals. Additionally, your ability to lead a highly engaged team, enhance culture and drive clear accountability across the team will be integral. Your capacity to build trust and influence across regional, community and government stakeholders will be critical, particularly on complex and high-profile issues.

You are widely recognised for your ability to lead high-performing, engaged teams and foster positive cultural change. Your experience includes meaningful engagement and advocacy across a broad range of stakeholders-including community, government and regulators to drive ongoing innovation and deliver customer centric and climate-resilient solutions.
