The Role:
- Represents the Department in proceedings under the expedited procedure before the National Native Title Tribunal.
- Prepares instructions to the State Solicitors Office in respect to expedited procedure objection matters that are proceeding to an Inquiry.
- Assists the State Solicitors Office as necessary in the preparation of contentions and evidence for submission to the National Native Title Tribunal on behalf of the State and in accordance with Tribunal Directions.
- Processes resource tenures applications, amalgamations and renewals to comply with the Future Act process under the Commonwealth Native Title Act 1993.
- Actions clearances and objections to the expedited procedure as advised by the National Native Title Tribunal.
- Maintains a title database and tracking system.
- Attends to Departmental and Industry requests concerning the progress of Future Act referrals.
- Represents the Department at meetings relating to Native Title.
Qualifications & Licenses
- Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check
- High integrity required for conflicts of interest
