Seeking an experienced APS6 Secretariat Officer for a 6-month labour hire contract based in Canberra. The role supports intergovernmental committees by managing end-to-end secretariat functions, including preparing agendas, meeting papers, minutes, and action items. Responsibilities include coordinating logistics such as venue bookings and catering, ensuring timely distribution of documents, and maintaining accurate records. The role also involves active stakeholder engagement and supporting senior staff with agency coordination tasks. Strong communication, organisation, and stakeholder management skills are essential.

My Federal Government client is seeking an experienced APS6 Secretariat Officer to provide high-level secretariat and coordination support to intergovernmental committees.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide secretariat support to multiple joint government committees.

  • Draft agendas, meeting papers, minutes, and action items.

  • Plan, coordinate, and manage meeting logistics, including venues, briefings, and catering.

  • Ensure timely circulation of agenda papers and post-meeting documentation.

  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure smooth meeting delivery and outcomes.

  • Support the Assistant Director with coordination responsibilities across committees.

Skills and Experience Required:

  • Previous experience in a secretariat or coordination role within Government.

  • Strong written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Excellent organisational and time management abilities.
