The Role

As our Risk and Compliance Specialist, you will play a crucial role in ensuring our school can navigate the complexities of regulatory, operational, and strategic risks. You will work closely with middle and senior leadership to develop and implement strategies, policies, and processes that foster a proactive, risk-aware culture across the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Risk Management & Compliance Oversight: Develop and maintain risk management frameworks, conduct internal audits, and ensure compliance with legislative requirements.
  • Workplace Health & Safety (WHS): Oversee WHS compliance, conduct incident investigations, and support the Return to Work program.
  • Policy Development & Implementation: Create and update WHS and compliance-related policies, ensuring alignment with best practices and legislative changes.
  • Leadership Support: Advise the Principal and Senior Leadership on risk and compliance matters, and prepare reports for key stakeholders.
  • Staff Training & Culture Building: Lead and educate staff in safety and compliance matters, developing and delivering training programs to promote a risk-aware and safety-focused culture.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Degree or Certificate IV in Governance and Risk Management, Certificate IV in WHS, or equivalent.
  • Fire Safety Advisor certification, or willingness to attain.
  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in a safety or compliance-related role, preferably in the education industry.
  • Strong knowledge of risk management and WHS legislation.
  • Proficiency in using risk management systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Proven experience in policy writing and implementation.
