About the Role:
As the Senior Compliance Manager at Zepto, your role purpose will be to lead the design, implementation and maintenance of regulatory compliance frameworks and foster a culture of compliance awareness across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Risk & Compliance, you will be responsible for providing compliance and regulatory advice, assessing compliance risks, investigating and resolving issues, communicating with regulators and external parties. You will also be a trusted member of the business, while also providing thought leadership and mentorship to the broader Risk & Compliance Team.
Working in a scale-up, means you get the opportunity to flex your skills in a variety of ways. We are agile and always willing to roll up our sleeves to get things done. You can, however, expect your day to day to be involved in the following:
- Governance, frameworks and internal control: Design, implement, maintain, enhance and conduct periodic reviews of regulatory compliance plans, frameworks, policies, procedures, decision models and internal controls, in respect of AFSL obligations, AML/CTF obligations, privacy, Open Banking, New Payment Platform regulations, requirements imposed by our banking partner and any other applicable obligations.
- Operational compliance and advisory: Manage and undertake business-as-usual regulatory compliance activities.
- Oversight and monitoring: Develop, implement and maintain a framework and key risk indicators that monitor and report on Zepto’s compliance with applicable laws and regulations, internal regulatory compliance policies, procedures and controls.
- Committee Representation: You’ll play a key role in being involved with working committees or other committees as required, both internally and externally.
- Assurance: Maintain a program for testing and challenging the effectiveness of compliance controls.
- Regulator and External Dispute Resolution liaison: Support the Head of Risk and Compliance in liaising with regulators and EDR schemes, including management of requests for information received and reviewing cases referred by AFCA.
- Regulatory compliance team operations and management: including work planning and prioritisation, process improvement, maintenance of compliance records and registers and assisting on regulatory compliance matters as needed.
- Leadership: Mentor, support and train the broader risk and compliance team and be a thought leader within the compliance space.
About you:

You’ll ideally have:
- 10+ years professional experience working in risk and/or compliance within the Australian financial services industry (payments industry experience is highly regarded).
- A tertiary qualification in Business, Law or Risk & Compliance Management.
- A passion for technology and the drive and tenacity to work within a fast-growth startup that is geared for global growth.
- Experience in dealing with regulators (ASIC, ACCC, OAIC, AUSTRAC) and EDR schemes (AFCA).
- Extensive knowledge and understanding of the Corporations Act (Chapter 7 and regulations relevant to AFSL obligations), ASIC Regulatory Guides, Privacy Act, AML/CTF Act and rules, relevant industry codes, compliance management principles and best practices. Knowledge of Consumer Data Right regulations and regulatory regimes of other jurisdictions is an advantage.
- Proven experience in building compliance frameworks, policies and processes and collaborating with business to embed policies into practice.
- Strong attention to detail and processes, with excellent communication, writing, investigation, analysis and advisory skills.
- Proven leadership, team building and project management experience across a regulatory compliance function - you lead with purpose and have what it takes to drive a team that has impact.
