About the Role:

Allianz Australia Limited (AAL) is seeking a dynamic and experienced General Manager Sustainability to shape and execute our sustainability strategy and initiatives.

As the General Manager Sustainability, you will play a crucial role in integrating environmental and social considerations into AAL’s business strategies and operations. You will lead efforts to enhance our environmental performance, climate resilience, and social impact, ensuring measurable positive outcomes for our customers, employees, communities, and stakeholders.

Other key aspects of the role:

  • Developing, leading, and executing AAL’s sustainability strategy in alignment with AAL’s overall strategy and vision and Allianz SE Group sustainability positioning and commitments.
  • Ensuring that sustainability objectives are integrated into the company’s core business strategies, operations, and long-term planning.
  • Driving initiatives to improve environmental performance, including energy efficiency and waste reduction.
  • Leading social resilience and impact programs that align with Allianz values and support community engagement.
  • Building strong relationships with stakeholders and represent AAL at sustainability forums and industry groups.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental and social regulations and manage ESG risks effectively.
  • Developing performance indicators to measure the success of sustainability initiatives and report transparently to stakeholders.
  • Interacting with Allianz Group stakeholders to ensure conformance with Group requirements and sharing of global best practice, stayomg informed about industry trends and drive innovation in sustainability practices.

Important to your success:

  • Significant experience in sustainability leadership, with a proven track record in developing and executing environmental and social impact strategies.
  • Strong demonstrated expertise in climate change, ESG risk management, and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams and working with diverse stakeholders to drive sustainable business practices.
  • Knowledge of relevant sustainability frameworks, regulations, and best practices, with the ability to translate them into actionable business strategies
  • Experience in developing, implementing and continuous improvement of sustainability governance and risk frameworks.
  • Demonstrated evidence of achieving sustainability outcomes in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated evidence of managing change through the initiation and promotion of organisational transformation.
  • Adept at building and maintaining professional relationships and networks to enhance industry positioning, exchange knowledge and eliciting beneficial outcomes.
  • Ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity and provide commercial solutions to meet stakeholder expectations.
  • Demonstrated passion for creating long-term business value by driving initiatives that deliver measurable positive impacts for customers, communities, and broader stakeholders, ensuring sustainable outcomes that benefit both the business and society.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
