Role scope

Kent is looking for maintenance E&I Technicians to join our high performing team on Shell’s QGC business in the Surat Basin, Queensland. This is a short-term role for an approx. 3 week assignment and would be a perfect fit for someone who is currently between roles

Details / responsibilities



  • Execute / perform preventive and corrective maintenance tasks on plant and equipment, safely and effectively, and provide technical assistance, as required, to the Operations Team
  • Inspect test, adjust and repair equipment to satisfy appropriate governing standards.
  • Work within OEM guidelines.
  • Demonstrate high-quality fault-finding skills and the ability to troubleshoot autonomously.
  • Observe and Monitor contract staff working on or near the facilities.
  • Liaise with other technicians in the team to undertake repair activities.
  • Support the Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Technician and Supervisor through advice and recommendations on improvements in production and planned maintenance.
  • Input to design change implementation
  • Participation in HAZOP reviews
  • Participate in HAZID reviews
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis and Causal Learning
  • Feedback on preventative plans
  • Assist in equipment performance checks,
  • Maintain maintenance records through effective documentation system as well as with Maintenance Management System
  • Maintain the housekeeping and orderliness of the maintenance workshop
  • Provide assistance in major maintenance works such as shutdown, overhauling, and other works
  • Provide technical advice on all instrumented and electrical equipment.
  • Ensure detailed shift handovers to shift colleagues are undertaken. Handover to cover both PM and CM tasks the technicians has undertaken whilst on roster and any changes that will affect the work scope.
  • Share learned knowledge with peers in the Electrical & Instrumentation Team
  • Deputise for Lead Electrical & Instrumentation Technician when applicable
  • Work within QGC HSSE & SP Framework
  • Conduct operational task as required
  • Working autonomously and in remote operations
  • From time to time involvement in shutdown activities may be required, including:
  • Input into handover of equipment for maintenance from and to Operational.
  • Participate in shutdown Toolbox meetings.
  • Assist with development of the shutdown maintenance scope of work
  • Assist with the development of the Job Plan and labour requirements for shutdown maintenance tasks
  • Assist in the coordination of the Shutdown Electrical & Instrumentation workforce




Qualifications



  • Trade qualified background (Mechanical)
  • White Card
  • High level computing skills – Microsoft Office and CMMS systems (Maximo experience desirable)
  • Ability to apply company and industry standards and skilled in the application of functional assurance processes
  • Ability to constructively challenge others and negotiate successfully with internal peers, partners and contractors to positively influence decisions and improve ways of working
  • Ability to collaborate with other core business areas to provide an engineering service that ensures asset integrity and longevity of plant and equipment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Results orientated with a high level of initiative and capacity to exercise good judgment
  • Extensive knowledge of quantifying and assessing risk and developing risk mitigation strategies
  • High level interpersonal skill
