The program

The Red Cross Wellbeing Centres are accommodation facilities located in Townsville, Mackay and Rockhampton allowing people to rest and recuperate while receiving medical treatment or caring for/visiting loved ones from some of the remote parts of North Queensland. The Centre provides safe and affordable accommodation.

The opportunity

For this role you will need good communication skills and attention to detail. The ability to effectively conduct all cleaning duties as required using the provided equipment, cleaning products and tools. The ability to relate to and empathise with a broad range of people, including those with different lived experiences, abilities, and cultures.

Red Cross will ensure you have training, ongoing support and access to other opportunities within the world’s largest humanitarian network.

The impact

As a volunteer, you will help assist the vulnerable in the community to ensure they feel safe. We demonstrate connection by listening, empathising, and providing them with a friendly voice and a person to go to for assistance with their stay.

Application Requirements

  • For this role you will be required to undertake a National Police Check, which will be organized through Red Cross
  • You will need to provide a recent copy of your resume and provide details for two professional references
  • The role will also require you to hold or apply for a Working with Children Check. Red Cross can assist you in applying for this check
