The Opportunity

Significant work in hand in Brisbane with more to follow. We are seeking application from a range of Rail Traction OHW experienced individuals who would like to join a growing team at an exciting time. This is an opportunity for you to Supervise and grow your own team!

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and Plan all Overhead Wiring (OHW) site activities allocated to construction team members, ensuring safe working practices in accordance with project safety systems and processes.
  • Prepare drawings, plans and diagrams of electrical installations with the Engineering team
  • Provide input to the estimate of ‘costs of construction’ for allocated projects in terms of labour, materials cost and quantities
  • Assemble, installing, calibration, testing, modifying, electrical equipment
  • Assist with the preparation of detailed Activity Method Statements (AMS’s, Task Risk Assessments (TRAs), Project Work Notifications (PWNs), Site Environmental Plans (SEPs) ¬ for works including project/site possessions, any construction activities, and through to pre-commissioning
  • Undertaking electrical workshops and functions such as assembling for metering and indicating devices
  • Develop & Deliver pre-start briefings/toolboxes
  • Undertake special tasks and investigations and make recommendations on matters as directed by management
  • Ensure appropriate liaison with all contractors, sub-contractors and stakeholders on projects
  • Ensure manufacture or construction, quality, timely completion, inspection and reporting of non-conformances for each project are carried out as defined in the Construction Management Plan
  • Assisting with research and experimentation programs
  • Control project costs and accuracy of contract reviews
  • Support the contract administration of the project
  • Assess the suitability of staff for leadership roles of work groups or advancement within the company and recommend advancements to Management.
  • Ensure contractors plant & equipment meets project requirements.
  • Coordinate, prepare and liaise with appropriate colleagues in order to commission new works and alterations to existing systems
  • Ensure regular workplace inspections are carried out and hazards identified are effectively controlled.
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of brownfield possession works


Ideal attributes

  • Trade qualified Rail Traction Linesworker
  • Minimum 10 Years’ Experience in 25Kv & 1500v DC Rail Systems
  • Furrer & Frey Rigid Conductor beam experience
  • Ability to read complex drawings and interpret requirements.
  • Relevant Construction Card (e.g. White Card)
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card
  • Driver’s License, EWP, First Aid, RIW, Dogman, Rigger
  • Demonstrated experience in key responsibilities and accountabilities of the role
  • Computer literate (MS Office is a must)
  • Be of the fitness level to be able to undertake Hi Risk Construction activities with the ability to pass a CAT 1 medical examination
