Troocoo are seeking Project Directors to oversee strategic and operational aspects of major rail infrastructure projects across the state.

In this role you will lead your Project though the procurement and or delivery phase and ensure project benefits and outcomes are delivered in a safe and integrated way on time and within budget, adhering to the highest standards of safety, quality, and environmental compliance, while also managing stakeholder requirements and expectations.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • leading and managing allocated project resources, including consultants and contractors, across a multi-disciplinary team.
  • This includes delivery, commercial, engineering and assurance, communications and engagement and project support functions.
  • During the delivery phase of projects, you will be required to lead the effective management of major rail infrastructure contracts.
  • Lead the client-side planning, execution, and delivery of major rail projects, from procurement to commissioning, handover and operation (dependent of status of project)
  • Provide strong and effective leadership in the preparation, negotiation and transaction major rail contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and partners, and ensuring terms are favourable for the organisation.
  • Lead the effective management of major rail contracts and agreements with contractors, suppliers, and partners, including driving outcomes and accountabilities
  • Develop and implement project plans, including setting goals, budgets, timelines, and resources required, aligned with the strategic objectives of the organisation.
  • Ensure that all projects adhere to and implement the required technical standards, legal regulations, safety protocols, environmental guidelines and approvals and internal procedures
  • Working collaboratively with other TMR projects, Cross River Rail and Queensland Rail to effectively manage program and project interfaces and achieve project milestones.
  • Provide strategic direction and advice and lead the timely resolution of complex matters associated with delivery in a brownfield rail environment, including those relating to safety, interface and integration with other projects and the broader rail network, contractual/legal, environmental, and commercial risks, to improve overall project performance and value for money delivery.
  • Resolve conflicts and problem-solve throughout the project lifecycle to avoid delays or cost overruns
  • Lead and inspire a multidisciplinary team of project professionals, fostering a collaborative, positive and safe work environment, ensuring that roles and responsibilities are clearly defined, and staff have the appropriate professional development and training to meet the project goals.
  • Ensure implementation in of best practice project management processes and systems, including cost control, schedule and program overview, development and implementation of management plans and robust risk and integration management.
  • Carry out risk assessment and risk management activities, including technical, financial, legal, and operational risks associated with the projects to minimise project risks and ensure contingency plans are in place.
  • Provide strategic oversight of the project's financial management, including budget planning, financial forecasting, and proactive engagement in securing funding as appropriate
  • Facilitate regular project review meetings to monitor and report on progress against approved plans, detailing actual or potential project variations, risks, issues, mitigation strategies and recommendations to senior management.
  • Monitor and report on project progress to senior management and key stakeholders, ensuring any issues are identified early and appropriate mitigation strategies are in place, while also providing analysis, strategic advice and recommendations.
  • Develop and maintain strategic and productive working relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (including TMR, Queensland Rail, Brisbane City Council and other government agencies and jurisdictions).
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across all phases of project management.

We are looking for someone with strong leadership skills and the ability to manage and inspire a multidisciplinary team. Someone with excellent communication and negotiation skills who can problem-solve and manage complex commercial, contractual, technical and delivery matters to senior management and key stakeholder groups.
