The Principal Program Officer – Family Liaison leads initiatives to improve the experience of families in the coronial system through a case management framework.

The role is located within CCQ Operations, working closely with coroners, court staff and stakeholders to develop and maintain seamless referral pathways and ensure effective communication for the benefit of families during the coronial investigation and inquest.

Your Key Responsibilities

As Principal Program Officer - Family Liaison you will:

  • Lead development of formalized relationships with key government and nongovernment stakeholders and victim support organizations, and maintain referral pathways to specialist services.
  • Provide a trauma and culturally informed response directly to families where necessary and support CCQ registry staff in complex cases and the management of complaints.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement and case coordination to ensure proactive engagement with families through the coronial process.
  • Lead internal case-coordination meetings with CCQ staff to ensure delivery of a tailored response, taking into account the psychosocial context of each family.
  • Work autonomously to advise, lead, direct, and deliver projects to improve family engagement and victim support.
  • In collaboration with stakeholders, review processes and procedures to enhance the experience of families engaged in the coronial system.
  • Monitor, assess, and lead quality improvement activities, including high quality data collection for the purposes of reporting, monitoring and evaluating personcentric case management.
  • Prepare high-level reports, communications, correspondence, and briefing papers as directed.
  • Undertake other activities as directed.


The work of the Coroners Court of Queensland will expose employees to disturbing material including offending behaviors, criminal activity and other explicit, distressing or offensive content. Employees will be required to engage with persons who have and may continue to experience distressing circumstances and/or are involved with the coronial system.
