The Women's Health Unit at the Mackay Base Hospital is seeking applications for a Clinical Nurse / Midwife (Diabetes to join their team on a permanent basis.

Your opportunity

The Clinical Nurse/Midwife provides advanced level clinical skills within the health service settings; and is responsible for the diabetes in pregnancy portfolio with a focus on clinical care/leadership, management, and education. You will work closely within the multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based practice that supports the team, clients, and their carers/families managing their diabetes in their pregnancy. You will be able to utilise your knowledge and expertise to support women with Type 1, Type 2, and Gestational Diabetes, and women with pre-existing diabetes planning a pregnancy.

About The Team

The Women's Health Unit has approximately 1500 births per year and is a referral service for rural facilities within the Mackay Health Service. It incorporates a 12 bed Inpatient Area, 6 bed Birth Suite, Birth Centre, Clinics and Special Care Nursery. Midwifery models of care have expanded to include a Midwifery Group Practice and community care. Opportunities for continuing education and advancement are offered and teamwork is a central value.
