As an Executive Level 1 – Staff Psychologist with the Department of Foreign Affairs & Trade (DFAT), you will be administering psychometric tests, conducting suitability assessments, and providing feedback on risk-related matters. You will be highly competent in the provision of short-term clinical interventions, including counselling, crisis support (including after hours), training and other capability development activities (to both Australian staff and locally engaged staff).


You will assist in the identification and management of psychosocial hazards in the workplace and provide recommendations that balance individual needs, with those of the of the organisation. You will display both initiative and judgement when interpreting policy and procedures and exhibit a high level of cultural sensitivity.


You will build and maintain productive working relationships within teams, across DFAT and with other agencies. You will communicate effectively (oral and written) and demonstrate strong stakeholder management skills – including while providing professional advice and services to monitor and support staff wellbeing and performance across DFAT’s global network.
