About the Role
As a Workshop Supervisor at SCS, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, execution, and delivery of all tasks within the workshop, ensuring efficient resource allocation and coordination across multiple projects, including estimating and quoting for the workshop. Your leadership will be essential in maintaining high standards of safety, quality, and efficiency, while supervising trades personnel and liaising with clients and stakeholders to ensure the successful completion of all workshop activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Champion a safety-first workshop environment.
- Provide leadership for vehicle maintenance, stores and asset management, and workshop fabrication.
- Coordinate resource scheduling with the Resource Team to align with project needs.
- Oversee the maintenance and availability of tools, equipment, and materials to minimize downtime.
- Track workshop project progress, monitor milestones, and communicate adjustments to the team and stakeholders.
- Collaborate with HR for smooth recruiting, employee onboarding, and inductions.
- Participate in team meetings and contribute to continuous process improvements, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness.
- Provide performance guidance, support professional development, and participate in performance reviews.
- Mentor and develop apprentices.
- Foster a high-performance, collaborative workshop culture.
- Conduct regular QA inspections to ensure work meets required standards.
- Identify and implement improvements to workshop efficiency, cost control, and performance.
- Uphold company standards, codes of conduct, and safe systems of work.
What We’re Looking For
- Minimum 5 years’ experience as a tradesperson, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or workshop management role.
- A solid background in mining, heavy plant maintenance, or a similar industry, with proven leadership experience in a workshop environment.
- Experience in job management, including estimating, quoting, and cost control is highly desirable.
- Proficient in using scheduling, job costing, and job management software such as SimPro or similar ERP systems.
- Familiar with site shutdown processes and capable of managing tight schedules.
- A proactive, safety-first approach with the ability to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols and regulatory requirements within both workshop and on-site environments.
