Your role at St John of God Langmore Centre

You will Provide professional specialist psychiatric services including comprehensive consultation and continuing care of patients requiring inpatient, day patient, and outpatient services.

This opportunity is being offered on a fixed term full time basis.

The Position

  • Formulate a management plan for the patient in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, appropriate to the level of risk and presenting problems
  • Consult and collaborate with colleagues and other health professionals regarding management including general practitioners, family and carers
  • Manage psychiatric emergencies in accordance with standard procedures and within the legal framework of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Act
  • Participate and provide clinical leadership in effective discharge of inpatients, either from the services or to appropriate ongoing management programs
  • Ensure quality and standards of care are met within own clinical practice and patient care reflects best practice guidelines and is evidence based
  • Participate in risk management and quality programs including reporting of incidents, Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s) and M&M meetings, clinical audit meetings
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and regulations, policies and procedures
  • Utilise appropriate information systems to enable informed decision-making and care planning.
  • Communicate with the staff and clinicians across all disciplines
  • Ensure timely completion of medical records for patients under own care including the completion of a final discharge summaries within 24 hours of discharge
  • Engage in weekly case conference in person or via telephone during business hours.
  • Complete documentation for health funds, insurance companies as per the agency specifies.
  • Liaise with external care providers as required to provide a safe transfer of care
  • Langmore Policy is 24 hours. Chief psychiatrist states as soon as practicable, ideally within 48hrs)

You will be Current specialist medical registration with the Medical Board of Australia, And a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists.

You will have demonstrated substantial clinical experience in the management of high acuity patients in a complex hospital environment and ability to implement sustainable change to improve patient safety and reduce unnecessary delays in patient management.
