About The Role
A key role reporting to the Head of Government & Advocacy is responsible for developing and managing government engagement strategies and public policy advocacy for Australia Pacific LNG (APLNG). The position will contribute to informing and developing APLNG's policy positions. Key responsibilities include presenting and advocating these positions to State and Federal Government departments, Ministerial offices, stakeholder groups, and industry associations. The role will also involve close collaboration with APLNG Partners, senior APLNG managers, Origin Corporate Affairs, and shareholder government relations and public policy teams.
More About The Role
- Develop and manage APLNG Engagement strategies.
- Interface with State and Federal MPs, Government Agencies, Stakeholder Groups and Industry Associations on issues relevant to APLNG.
- Providing expert advice on government relations and policy options to APLNG CEO and other business leaders
- Monitor emerging government and policy issues and develop APLNG advocacy positions and submissions.
- Identify appropriate government engagement opportunities and events for APLNG CEO and management team.
- Actively engage and manage APLNG's relationship with Partners, Industry peak bodies, including QRC and AEP and support the APLNG CEO in their roles on Peak Body Boards
- Prepare internal reports/documents to inform Shareholders of matters relating to Government relations and public policy as appropriate (including Committee papers)
- Drive a strong 'One Team' culture between APLNG shareholders and among the Origin Corporate Affairs Team.
- Work with the APLNG Shareholder Government Relations and Public Policy teams to achieve outcomes with government and other stakeholders that advance APLNG business interests.
- Previous experience in a similar role focussed on government relations and policy, in Government or the energy industry
- Extensive experience working with gas, resources and energy policy issues
- The ability to build and maintain relationships in senior levels of government
- Experience with representing a company on peak body working groups
- Demonstrated ability to manage complex and challenging issues
