Are you passionate about shaping the future of freight in Queensland? We're looking for a dynamic and strategic thinker to join our Project Delivery and Evaluation team as Principal Advisor. In this role, you'll play a key part in advancing TMR’s strategic freight agenda—supporting the development of an integrated, efficient, and resilient multi-modal freight transport system that drives Queensland’s economic growth.
In the role of Principal Advisor (Freight) you are required to work across teams to support the coordination and management of the department's strategic freight agenda aimed at developing and effectively operating an efficient multi-modal freight transport system supporting Queensland's economic development.
This role supports TMR to deliver an integrated, resilient, and safe multi-modal freight system for Queensland's economy and communities, fostered through innovative solutions to existing and emerging freight and supply chain issues aligned with the Queensland Freight Strategy and Queensland Freight Action Plan.

In the role of Principal Advisor (Freight) you are required to work across teams to support the coordination and management of the department's strategic freight agenda aimed at developing and effectively operating an efficient multi-modal freight transport system supporting Queensland's economic development.
This role supports TMR to deliver an integrated, resilient, and safe multi-modal freight system for Queensland's economy and communities, fostered through innovative solutions to existing and emerging freight and supply chain issues aligned with the Queensland Freight Strategy and Queensland Freight Action Plan.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Provide technical and specialist advice on multi-modal freight activities, including rail freight and related supply chains and freight systems.
- Develop and provide strategic advice on freight issues including reviewing and evaluating proposals and concepts to make recommendations for senior management.
- Establish and maintain positive relationships with government agencies and freight industry stakeholders and engage regularly with these stakeholders to progress freight programs and projects.
- Develop and deliver high priority freight projects and initiatives that respond to stakeholder requirements and are aligned to broader government priorities and departmental strategies.
- Experience in providing advice on issues, proposals and concepts to senior management.
- Experience developing and managing projects and initiatives, including undertaking procurement, progress reporting and evaluation, stakeholder consultation, and ensuring good governance in line with best practice approaches.
- Experience in establishing and maintaining productive working relationships with key stakeholders.
- Experience in providing written and verbal advice to support the development of executive-level briefing notes, ministerials, reports, submissions, business cases and other correspondence in line with departmental standards.
- Understanding of relevant legislative, policy and planning regulatory frameworks, and relevant transport strategies and plans.
- Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously and as part of a team to deliver a program of work.
