The Role

Hudson has partnered with a high profile government department seeking an experienced APS 6 Finance Officer to utilise their financial project reporting and engagement skills working as part of a multi-disciplinary Project Management Office.

Duties:

  • Assist with month-end accruals processes, including processing of invoices and reporting
  • Apply financial knowledge to provide analysis & variance commentary for projects and divisional information.
  • Assist with a broad range of financial and accounting matters including ad hoc financial queries, briefing requests and compliance checks
  • Contribute to the coordination of briefings, correspondence and submissions relating to the corporate coordination activities, including the Senate Estimates process
  • Ability to use SAP and TM1 or similar FMIS and reporting tools
  • Ability to effectively manage competing deadlines to achieve results and deliver high quality outcomes.
  • Energetic, self-motivated and keen to take on new challenges, opportunities and learn new skills, with strategic and analytical thinking skills, and the ability to draw accurate conclusions based on evidence
  • Demonstrated experience in accounting or finance area and working knowledge/understanding of the Commonwealth financial framework including accrual accounting, annual appropriation process and the legislation that governs the Department's financial operations, primarily the PGPA Act is essential.

Qualifications and Education

  • Experience in accounting or finance area and a working knowledge/understanding of the Commonwealth financial framework including accrual accounting, annual appropriation process and the legislation that governs the Department's financial operations, primarily the PGPA Act is essential.
  • Accounting qualifications desirable.
  • CA/CPA or ability to progress towards desirable.
  • IT skills including intermediate to advanced Microsoft excel skills is desirable.
