Arden College are recruiting for a cook to join their catering team!
This is a very exciting opportunity for the right candidate to work with our fantastic students and staff at our Derby Rd campus. Reporting to the Catering Manager, the successful candidate will oversee the planning, preparation, cooking and presentation of the food for our students and staff, as well as administrative tasks to ensure that costs are monitored, stock is ordered with minimal wastage, and that all health and safety legislation is adhered to.
Arden College is an independent specialist college, which is part of Aspris Children’s Services. The college site currently serves lunch to Young People with autism and complex learning needs (ages 16 to 25) and their staff team. The staff and student team comprises approximately 40-50 people per day.
Currently all staff and students are offered a dish of the day alongside sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes and salad. There are a range of dietary requirements for individual young people including allergies. The successful candidate will have experience of catering for gluten free, dairy free, nut free, vegetarian, vegan and Halal diets.
The successful candidate will have a flexible attitude to the role with a focus on the young people’s needs. We teach catering and hospitality as part of our college offer and it is essential that the successful candidate is happy to work with students in the kitchen (with support staff), teaching them catering skills in a real commercial kitchen.

A Level 3 Qualification Or Equivalent Is An Essential Requirement, As Well As Previous Experience Preparing And Cooking Meals Gained Within a Professional Kitchen Environment Along With The Following Characteristics

Organisation You will need to be confident and organised in updating menus, dietary requirements and reporting information that will be relevant to the care of our young people.

- Appropriate qualifications for the role.
- An understanding of health and safety at work, particularly with regard to catering
- Experience producing meals for large groups on time and to budget
- Ability to monitor costs and liaise with suppliers.
