ABOUT THE ROLE

Caring for others is truly a calling. Utilise your warm & caring approach to make a meaningful difference to the lives of older people. Home Care Workers provide services to our customers who live in their own homes. You will provide high quality care and support services in accordance with the individual needs and wishes of each older person, enabling them to remain living at home independently.

As a Home Care Worker, you will provide excellent customer service. You will follow the tasks as directed per the Support Plan, such as personal care, general housekeeping and assistance, delivering services with compassion, integrity and dignity.

Your tasks include:

  • Providing support to clients with domestic assistance duties such as cleaning, laundry, and meal preparation.
  • Assisting clients with personal care support including showering, toileting, and feeding assistance.
  • Providing assistance to your clients with transportation, e.g. to appointments, shopping, and leisure outings.
  • Building and maintaining strong and effective relationships with clients and their families.
  • Adhering to health and safety guidelines and policies to keep yourself and our clients safe.

ABOUT YOU

We are looking for individuals committed to providing excellence in care and the best possible quality of life to our residents.

Essential Requirements:

  • Certificate III in Aged, Community Care or equivalent
  • Current driver license
  • Reliable vehicle (including valid registration with minimal 3rd Party Insurance)
  • Home Care experience
  • Current First Aid Certificate

You will have:

  • An appreciation of and the ability and willingness to promote, support and model the Christian values and ethos of The Salvation Army
  • Motivation to work with older people living in the community and an understanding of their needs and of consumer directed care
  • Strong customer service focus and good time management skills
  • Ability to work independently and safely in a client’s home
  • Good communication skills, including fluency in written and spoken English
  • Computer literacy and experience with documentation
