We're a K-10 School of 200 students situated on Lardil Country within a Community of Islands in the Gulf of Carpentaria, far North West Queensland. We invite the young people of the Community to Thaldi Bana Merri - "come and learn", as we teach and learn the Curriculum through connection to Country, Culture and Language.

About The Role
As Deputy Principal, you will be working closely alongside another Deputy Principal to support the management of the School across the K-10 cohort. This is a flexible role, with some scope for negotiation around sharing of responsibilities, based on the strengths and desired areas of growth for the successful applicant.

About The Role

You will have responsibility for leading the following activities and delivery of the following key tasks:
- Assist the Principal to lead the school community to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focussed on providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Deputise for the Principal when required.
- Uphold the deputy principalship as a values based, ethical and moral activity.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Actively participate in lifelong learning and ongoing professional development.
Key Skills and Attributes include:
- Know the Australian Curriculum and able to oversee its implementation within a K -10 school setting.
- Able to support the effective teaching of reading, through professional knowledge of the Reading Commitment and the Simple View of Reading.
- Understand key pedagogies that support success for I/EALD learners.
- Familiar with the K-12 Curriculum, Assessment and Reporting Framework (CARF) and able to oversee its implementation within a P-10 School setting.
- Able to Line Manage a team of teachers and Middle Leaders and develop their capability utilising the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers and Performance Development Plans.
- Able to effectively manage student behaviour by supporting implementation of Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) multi-tiered systems of support.
- Able to communicate effectively and build trust relationships with parents, Community members and Service Providers to support all students at School to be successful.
