Your role at St John of God Social Outreach

We are seeking applications for a Peer Support Worker to join our Social Outreach team in Bunbury, on a permanent part-time basis.

Working as a Peer Support Worker, you will provide the highest level of support to individuals who are provided with a service by South-West Community Alcohol and Drug Services (SWCADS). This will be achieved through the implementation of services and programs that are flexible and individualised in response to each person being supported.

The Position

  • Participate in a range of appropriate programs and activities aimed at increasing the individual’s skills, knowledge and improve access to required services in the community.
  • Provide the highest level of support for individuals supported and ensure each person supported is treated with respect that enhances their personal worth, dignity and rights, at all times.
  • Assist in achieving individual’s, team and service goals and objectives.
  • Seek ways of improving the service standards through working closely with clinical care givers, AOD prevention staff, line managers and contributing to meetings.
  • Maintain a high level of service provision for all individuals and ensure the health, wellbeing and safety of all people supported and staff is maintained at all times.
  • Support the identified needs of individuals in relation to their particular life circumstances.

To be successfully shortlisted, applicants will have a Certificate IV or above in a related field (Community Services, AOD, Mental Health) and experience working in a human service-related sector.

Successful applicants must hold a valid WA drivers’ licence, Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.

We can offer you

  • Salary: $74,031 to $79,388 (pro rata for part time) plus 11.5% Superannuation
  • Permanent part-time, working 22.8 hours per week
