About the role
We are currently recruiting for a Media and Communications Officer to join the Communications team within our Corporate Affairs division. This role can be based anywhere within Essential Energy’s operational footprint.
Reporting to the Media and Communications Manager you will support the delivery of the Media and Social Media Strategy across the business. You will play a key role in preparing media materials, including statements, releases, and speeches, while ensuring all communications align with internal strategies.
This position will involve creating multimedia campaigns to promote Essential Energy's work, with a focus on showcasing the company's leadership in the energy industry, particularly across regional, rural, and remote NSW.
Additionally, you will monitor media coverage and provide advice to the Media and Communications Manager on external communication strategies, contributing to the management of media responses during crises or network events.
About You
You are a skilled communications professional with experience in media, public relations, and social media management. Your background includes the research, design, and delivery of integrated campaigns that enhance the identity and reputation of your organisation. You have a strong understanding of media processes and deadlines, with the ability to craft high level corporate communications. You excel at content creation, including video, audio, and photography, and are adept at managing events and liaising with media during significant corporate activities. Your professional written and verbal communication skills ensure that you can effectively collaborate across departments and manage media inquiries. You bring both a creative and strategic approach to the role, with an ability to manage sensitive and confidential media issues effectively.
Required Qualifications
- Certificate IV in Communications, Public Relations or Journalism or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
