Palmview State Secondary College is centrally located in the township of Palmview, at the heart of the Sunshine Coast, with quick access to the Bruce Highway and just 10 minutes' drive from the golden beaches of beautiful Mooloolaba.

Palmview State Secondary College is seeking a permanent full-time Cleaner to work at our school. Shifts will be negotiated with the school and worked alongside existing cleaning staff where it is operationally required. School cleaners play a vital role in the school community by reducing the spread of disease through high standards of cleaning practices and keeping the appearance of the school at a high standard. It is the responsibility of school cleaners to deliver a clean and hygienic learning environment for all students.

Palmview State Secondary College delivers world class learning and teaching in state of art educational facilities for the townships of Palmview and Glenview. We are co-located adjacent to Palmview State Primary School and Palmview State Special School which opened in 2021. About The Role

As the Cleaner, you will:

  • Contribute to the efficient and effective operation and environment of the site by providing a high level of cleaning support.
  • Ensure that the duties prescribed for the position are completed to an acceptable standard as determined by their supervisor, in accordance with the approved school cleaning program.

The Cleaner reports to the school Principal or nominated delegate. In a non-school location the cleaner reports directly to the Site Manager.

Responsibilities Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • The role involves a variety of cleaning and maintenance duties aimed at ensuring a clean and safe school environment. Responsibilities include cleaning windows, doors, sinks, drinking fountains, lavatory basins, glassware, and cupboards, as well as sanitising toilet facilities and sick bays. It also includes maintaining equipment, controlling cobwebs and mildew using extendable tools, and cleaning various surfaces such as concrete, bitumen, asphalt, and paved areas. Other cleaning tasks include dusting furniture and equipment, sweeping, vacuuming, removing graffiti, and maintaining vinyl and timber floors, including buffing, stripping, and polishing.
  • Security-related tasks include activating and deactivating school security systems, and locking or unlocking buildings as needed. The role also involves liaising with the Principal or Business Manager regarding the purchase and replacement of cleaning materials. Additionally, the person in this role will report security, safety, or damage concerns to the Principal, Business Manager, or Schools Officer (Facilities and/or Grounds) and refer members of the public to the relevant school personnel.
  • Other duties include the disposal of rubbish and litter control, removal of materials from drains and gutters, and performing any other appropriate cleaning tasks as directed by the Principal or Business Manager. The position may require taking on additional suitable responsibilities consistent with the role, as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.
