About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometers from Orange and 250 kilometers west of Sydney. Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold-rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving, a large-scale underground mining method.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and proudly run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience our Indigenous employees. As a residential (drive-in / drive-out) mine, Cadia values community deeply, offering both financial and in-kind support to organizations across Blayney, Cabonne, and Orange townships. The Orange region is often referred to as the gateway to Country New South Wales with acclaimed wineries, fine dining, annual festivals and charming heritage villages making for an unparalleled work-life balance.
Reporting to Lead, Safety & Security, the Advisor, Health & Safety will provide workplace health and safety advice and support to Newmont Cadia. The advisor will be supporting compliance to the site Safety Management Plan through the coaching and mentoring of the workforce to assist with achieving an ‘always safe’ safety culture on site.

Reporting to Lead, Safety & Security, the Advisor, Health & Safety will provide workplace health and safety advice and support to Newmont Cadia. The advisor will be supporting compliance to the site Safety Management Plan through the coaching and mentoring of the workforce to assist with achieving an ‘always safe’ safety culture on site.
Key Responsibilities Include
- Assist site with compliance to the Safety Management Plan.
- Assist the HSS department to develop and implement safety system improvements, including support in the execution of the Health and Safety Plan.
- Facilitate the review of WHS documents, including consultation with the workforce.
- Monitor field inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards.
- Provide WHS advise and support to site leaders and personnel which includes hands-on safety coaching and training to site personnel, demonstrating standard methodology and proper use of safety equipment, including Pre-task hazard assessment, general risk assessments, Event Reporting and 5 Why investigations.
- Execute safety protocols and procedures tailored to on-site conditions, ensuring all staff are trained and compliant with these guidelines.
- Collaborate in and deliver to safety programs such as fatality management and incident management, applying field observations and feedback into program development – fatality risk management, injury reduction and health & wellbeing programs.
- Support and influence site/project frontline Leaders in safe execution of work and engaging workforce to improve health and safety.
- Coordinate and support OHS Representative or equivalent programs.
- Operationalize Safety management systems e.g. change management.
- Support assurance programs for health and safety standards and processes.
- Facilitate or support incident investigations using the nominated Newmont incident investigation system.
- Maintain high standards of performance and adopt a proactive approach to WHS.
Additionally, You May Also Hold The Following
- Certificate IV Work Health and Safety – Preferred
- Essential Factors or Lead ICAM Certificate – Preferred
- Minimum ‘C’ Class Manual drivers license – Essential
- Understanding of NSW WHS Acts and Regulations (both Safe Work and Resources Regulator)
- Sound computer skills (including MS Office)
- Knowledge of safety systems such as CHESS, Cintellate or INX – Preferred
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessing – Preferred
- Internal Auditor – Preferred
