Director of Business Operations (AI)

Plexus

What you’ll actually do:

  • Run our agentic automation layer. You’ll pick what gets automated across the business, in what order, and make sure people use it, not just admire it. We measure success by usage, not launch announcements.
  • Adopt the orphans. Every company has cross-functional projects nobody owns. You’ll give them a home, a plan and a finish line.
  • Build for holidays. Every metric gets a target, a red line and an owner. Processes keep running when someone’s on a beach in Bali.
  • Fix, then leave. Walk into a struggling area, find the real problem, sort it, and hand it back better than you found it. You’re not there to move in.
  • Own the paperwork nobody wants. You’ll run standard contracts and vendor deals to a playbook (our lawyers have your back) and get them off the CEO’s desk.
  • Make good leaders better. You’ll coach them, not counsel them.

You’ll love this if you:

  • Have shipped automation people actually adopted, and still get a kick out of killing a manual process
  • Have run ops or a turnaround in a scaling SaaS business
  • Can get things done through people who don’t report to you
  • Read a P&L comfortably and think like an owner
  • Know enough about contracts to spot risk and know when to call a lawyer. You don’t need a law degree.
  • Can untangle a messy process in the morning and talk strategy with the board in the afternoon

Why Plexus:

You’ll get a seat on the SLT and a direct line to the CEO. It’s an AI-native role that touches all functions. The team is ambitious but doesn’t take itself too seriously, and there’s zero appetite for politics.

Plot twist: this isn’t a COO job

Most scale-ups hit operational drag, hire a COO and hand them an empire. We thought about it and decided we’d rather not. Our functions keep their leaders. What we need is the person who makes the whole machine hum, and who quietly fixes the bits that clank. You’ll do it with agents, data and pop-up teams, not a sprawling org chart. If your reflex when something breaks is “can a bot do this?” and not “let’s hire someone”, we should talk.

Who we are:

We help in-house legal teams automate contracts, approvals, compliance and legal requests, so lawyers can spend their time on work that needs a lawyer. Around 200 leading brands use us, including General Motors, L’Oréal, Coca-Cola and Samsung.
