Alpha HPA is seeking a E&I Technician to join its Gladstone team. This is a rare opportunity to contribute across both construction and operations phases of a major greenfield project.

We are looking for an Electrical and Instrumentation Technician with experience in green field project, commissioning and operational maintenance. In this hands-on role, you'll help maintain the reliability, safety, and performance of plant equipment by delivering electrical and instrumentation maintenance activities. Working with a skilled maintenance team, you'll support planned maintenance, troubleshoot issues, and help maximise plant availability and efficiency.

This role is a Monday to Friday role working 38hrs per week.

Key responsibilities

Ensuring plant, equipment repairs, modifications and monitoring occur within health and safety guidelines.
Investigating, analysing and determining root causes of Electrical & Instrumentation plant failures.
Coordinating and communicating with Planners, Mechanical Technicians, Electrical Engineers and Operations to complete and resolve both planned and unplanned maintenance activities.
Participating in pre-shut-down work scoping and shut-down facilitation execution.
Providing direction and control of breakdown work to ensure maximum output.
Conducting maintenance tasks within a rigid planning and clearance to work system.
Ensuring maintenance budget expenditure is targeted to the right plant and equipment to obtain maximum value.
Planning maintenance tasks using the TAG system.

The Organisation

Alpha HPA is a publicly listed, Australian-based company that has commercialised the world's first solvent extraction (SX) purification technique applied to aluminium. This breakthrough process produces a growing range of ultra-high purity aluminium materials - oxides, hydroxides and nitrates - used across advanced industries such as LED lighting, synthetic sapphire, semiconductors and lithium-ion batteries.

Alpha HPA's materials deliver market-leading purity levels with a significantly lower carbon profile. The Stage One HPA First Project in Gladstone is already in production - the first commercial application of Alpha HPA's proprietary Smart SXTM process, producing >99.99% pure aluminium products.

Construction of the large-scale Stage Two facility is underway, with full-scale production targeted for mid-2027. Once operational, Alpha HPA will produce 10,000 tonnes of HPA equivalent per year, right here in Gladstone.

About The Candidate

You'll bring:

Dual trade qualification in Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) or equivalent experience.
Experience in heavy industry or continuous manufacturing environments.
Knowledge of DCS, PLC, SIS, motor control, instrumentation, and control systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve root causes.
Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with operations and engineering teams.
Experience with maintenance management systems, with a commitment to continuous learning and development.
