About the role

The Data Officer at Drug Health Services supports service planning, performance monitoring, and government reporting through expert data management and analysis. This role ensures accurate data submission to the Victorian Alcohol and Drug Collection (VADC) and contributes to quality assurance across a range of community and hospital-based alcohol and other drug programs.

This part-time ongoing position involves collaboration across campuses and with external partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Monitor, reconcile and maintain the accuracy and integrity of data across key systems, following up with staff to resolve issues.
  • Support the monthly VADC data submission and deliver routine and ad hoc reporting.
  • Contribute to the development and quality checking of Power BI dashboards and other reporting tools.
  • Support system testing, updates and maintenance, liaising with internal teams and external vendors.
  • Provide data-related support and training to staff, and maintain strong working relationships across internal and external stakeholders.

About you

We're after someone who's genuinely interested in data and doesn't mind rolling up their sleeves to get it right. You'll bring:

  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Experience reconciling data, checking for quality issues and following them through to resolution.
  • Confidence extracting, collating and reporting on data from multiple systems.
  • Strong communication skills, comfortable working with people across clinical, administrative and management levels.
  • Experience supporting and training staff on data systems.
  • A solid understanding of confidentiality and data security.
  • Experience with health data systems and Power BI is highly regarded.
  • Prior experience in public health or Alcohol and Other Drug services is a bonus, not essential.
