About The Role

Are you passionate about working with children and youth?
We are looking for an enthusiastic and community minded Children and Youth Services Librarian to join the team at Coburg library.
In this rewarding role, you’ll help create welcoming, engaging and inclusive library experiences for children, young people and their families.
You’ll deliver innovative programs and activities, provide excellent reader advisory and information services, and build strong connections with schools, community organisations and families
Skills And Experience Required To Perform The Role
- Eligibility for professional membership of the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA), or currently enrolled in a course that will allow eligibility when completed (at least 50% of the course must be completed to date).
- Experience in the provision of children’s and youth services and library-based community programs is desirable. This includes but not limited to school holiday programs, weekly story times, weekly rhyme times for babies, children’s reading groups, digital literacy, kindergarten and day care visits, and other children and youth activities.
- Selecting books, periodicals and other library materials for children and young people.
- Good information retrieval skills, including online databases.
- When on duty as the senior staff member experience in enforcing library policies, supervising staff and performing all day-to-day maintenance and routines.
- A current Working with Children Check.
