Role Purpose: The Afternoon Shift Replenishment Lead is responsible for coordinating replenishment, pallet movement, forklift activity, and shift priorities during the afternoon operation. The role ensures pick faces are maintained, operational handovers are followed through, and the shift finishes safely, accurately, and ready for the next day’s workload.
Key Responsibilities
- Replenishment Operations
- Manage replenishment activity throughout the afternoon shift, ensuring pick locations remain stocked to support current and next-day order demand.
- Minimize picker downtime by always ensuring product availability.
- Prepare priority replenishment and stock readiness actions for the following morning shift where required.
- Pallet Movement & Storage
- Oversee the safe and efficient movement of pallets between receiving, reserve storage, forward pick locations, staging areas, and outbound support areas during the afternoon operation.
- Ensure correct pallet placement, consolidation, and stock rotation.
- Consolidate pallets to save overall space.
- Ensure aisles, docks, staging areas, and forklift zones are left clear, safe, and organised at the end of shift.
- Forklift Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate forklift drivers and replenishment support team members on the afternoon shift.
- Allocate shift tasks and manage workload based on operational priorities, available labour, and equipment availability
- Train and coach team members on safe equipment operation and best practices
- Monitor productivity, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards
- Provide clear shift direction, escalate issues promptly, and maintain strong communication across the afternoon team
- Shift Coordination & Handover
- Receive and action handover priorities from day shift, ensuring replenishment, pallet movement, and operational risks are followed through during the afternoon shift.
- Work closely with Fulfillment, Inventory, and Operations teams to align replenishment priorities with order waves, stock accuracy, and shift requirements.
- Communicate stock shortages, delays, equipment issues, or safety concerns that may impact order fulfillment or the next shift
- Complete end-of-shift updates, including task completion, outstanding priorities, and any required follow-up actions
- Process Optimisation
- Support the development and maintenance of SOPs for replenishment, forklift movements, shift handover, and material handling
- Systems & Task Management
- Utilise WMS to manage afternoon shift replenishment tasks, track stock movements, monitor location status, and identify outstanding work.
- Ensure all pallet movements and replenishment activities are accurately recorded in the system
- Ensure shift reports, exception notes, and outstanding tasks are updated accurately before shift close
- Review replenishment and task completion data to support better planning, escalation, and shift handover
- Health, Safety & Compliance
- Enforce adherence to warehouse safety policies, particularly in relation to forklift operations.
- Conduct shift safety checks, ensure equipment is maintained and used correctly, and escalate faults or hazards immediately.
- Promote a strong safety culture across the team.
- Ensure end-of-shift housekeeping standards are completed, including clear walkways, safe pallet placement, and secure equipment parking.
Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in warehouse operations, with a strong focus on replenishment, inventory movement, or afternoon shift execution.
- Experience leading forklift operators, replenishment teams, or material handling teams in a shift-based environment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse layout, pick/pack operations, and stock flow.
- Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Solid problem-solving and organisational skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Strong communication skills, including the ability to complete clear shift handovers and escalate operational issues.
Qualifications
- Valid forklift license/certification (required).
- Relevant experience in logistics, warehousing, or supply chain operations.
- Availability to work afternoon shift hours and provide flexibility around operational requirements where required.
