The Role

We are currently seeking a motivated individual for the role of Water and Sewerage Network Operations Worker. This position plays a key role in the construction, maintenance, inspection, and repair of water supply and sewerage infrastructure — ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient service delivery to our community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining, repairing, and installing water mains, sewer lines, valves, hydrants, and associated infrastructure.
  • Responding to emergency incidents such as water main breaks and sewer overflows.
  • Conducting inspections using diagnostic tools.
  • Performing pipe laying, excavation, trenching, and site reinstatement work.
  • Operating and maintaining pumps, jetting trucks, backhoes, and other machinery.
  • Reading and interpreting utility maps, engineering plans, and work orders.
  • Accurately documenting work performed and asset conditions.
  • Ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, and public health standards.
  • Engaging professionally with supervisors, contractors, and the community.

Operational Accountabilities

  • Complete assigned maintenance, repair, and installation tasks within designated timeframes and quality standards.
  • Ensure all work is carried out in accordance with WHS (Work Health and Safety), environmental, and public health regulations and procedures.
  • Respond promptly to network failures or incidents, minimizing disruption to services and ensuring community safety.

Essential

  • Class MR driver’s licence (or willing to obtain)
  • General Construction card (White card)
  • Low voltage certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Working at Heights certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Working in Confined Space Certificate (or willing to obtain)
  • Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces
  • Demonstrated experience in fabrications, repairs, maintenance of pumps and servicing of pipes and mains
