What We’re Looking For
The Senior Marine Surveyor is responsible for conducting comprehensive surveys and inspections of vessels, including new construction projects and existing ships, to ensure compliance with international standards, classification society rules, and regulatory requirements. This role involves technical skills, project oversight, and collaboration with shipyards, owners, and regulatory bodies to maintain safety, quality, and operational integrity.

The role
- Perform statutory and classification surveys on ships and marine assets.
- Conduct ISM, ISPS, MLC, and Flag State inspections and audits as authorized.
- Verify compliance with Class Rules, international conventions, Flag State requirements, and port regulations.
- Monitor and inspect ship repair and building processes, including hull fabrication, machinery installation, and outfitting.
- Review and approve repair and construction procedures and specifications for compliance with classification and statutory requirements.
- Perform condition assessments, damage surveys, detention and compliance inspections on in-service vessels.
- Evaluate structural integrity, machinery performance, and safety systems.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and recommend corrective actions or repairs.
- Regulatory & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to IMO conventions, flag state regulations, and classification society standards.
- Liaise with shipowners, operators, and regulatory authorities to resolve compliance issues.
- Technical Support & Advisory
- Provide specialised guidance on marine engineering, hull structures, and safety systems
- Support risk assessments and incident investigations.
What You Bring
- Degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, or related field.
- Extensive professional experience in marine surveying, including new construction and operational vessels
- Customer experience focused mindset
- In-depth knowledge of international maritime regulations and classification society rule
- Well-honed skills in problem resolution and report preparation.
- Solid communication and stakeholder management abilities.
