About the role

We are looking for a Production Engineer to join our Product Development team and help ensure GroundProbe products are manufactured safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. Acting as the link between Engineering and Production, you will support manufacturing operations, optimize processes, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and assist with the successful transition of new products into production.

Working closely with cross-functional teams and suppliers, you'll help solve manufacturing challenges, improve product quality and throughput, and support Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DFMA) activities to deliver reliable and scalable production outcomes.

What you will be doing

• Follow all workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures.
• Help create a safe working environment by identifying and addressing hazards.
• Ensure safety considerations are built into manufacturing processes and product improvements.
• Provide day-to-day engineering support to production teams, helping resolve manufacturing and assembly issues.
• Participate in and lead root cause analysis (RCA) investigations to identify and fix recurring problems.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, quality, and productivity through process improvements, tooling enhancements, automation, and standardization.
• Investigate product and system issues and work with the appropriate teams to drive effective solutions.
• Keep stakeholders informed on the progress of assigned tasks and projects.
• Develop and maintain manufacturing processes, work instructions, test procedures, and safe work procedures.
• Ensure manufacturing documents are accurate, up to date, and properly controlled.
• Review and update engineering drawings, 3D models, Bills of Materials (BOMs), and related documentation to support product and process changes.
• Assist with supplier qualification activities to ensure quality and reliability.
• Support product validation, production testing, and verification activities.
• Analyze test results and recommend corrective actions and improvements where required.
• Escalate technical risks and concerns to the Engineering Manager or relevant stakeholders.
• Contribute to the development and protection of GroundProbe's intellectual property (IP).
• Maintain accurate records, including timesheets, project updates, training, and other administrative requirements.

What you will bring

• A degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial, Electronic, or a related discipline), or a technical trade background with strong manufacturing and production experience.
• 4+ years of experience in a manufacturing, production, or engineering environment.
• Experience working within a structured product development or manufacturing environment.
• Familiarity with engineering documentation, Bills of Materials (BOMs), change control processes, and manufacturing specifications.
• Working knowledge of relevant Australian Standards and quality management systems.
• Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
• Experience managing BOMs and engineering change processes.
• Ability to interpret mechanical drawings and electronic/electrical schematics.
• Experience with data analysis, KPI reporting, and performance tracking.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, with experience identifying and resolving production and quality issues.
• Knowledge of root cause analysis (RCA) and structured problem-solving methodologies.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• A keen eye for detail and commitment to quality.
• Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.
• A proactive approach to improving processes, efficiency, and product quality.
