About you
We are seeking a Lawyer with 2-4 years’ PQE to join our Technology, Media and Intellectual Property team. In this role, you will support Partner Mitchell Wright in Canberra, as well as partners Nationally.
To be successful and thrive in this role, you will bring:
- an interest in working with clients across both the public and private sectors
- at least 2 years' post-admission experience, with a focus on or interest in some or all of the following: privacy, information law, confidentiality and government data sharing, copyright licences, and artificial intelligence and technology-related advice
- a collaborative mindset, initiative and a genuine interest in developing your legal career
- strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport with clients, colleagues and other stakeholders
- the ability to manage competing priorities and work proactively within a team environment
- clear, professional and effective written and verbal communication skills.
- eligibility to obtain and maintain an Australian Government Security Vetting Agency (AGSVA) security clearance.

Your role
As a Lawyer in our Technology, Media & Intellectual Property team, you will work closely with partners and senior lawyers on a broad range of advisory matters. You will assist clients across the technology, media and digital sectors on matters involving privacy and data protection law, freedom of information, confidentiality and government secrecy regimes, copyright licences, technology transactions, and information security and governance.
Your responsibilities will include legal research, drafting advice, advising on privacy compliance and regulatory obligations, opinions and transactional documents, reviewing and negotiating technology and data-related contracts, and assisting with client management. The role offers exposure to contemporary legal issues at the intersection of technology, data, privacy regulation and intellectual property, supported by strong mentoring and development opportunities.
