The Opportunity

Joining Aveo as a Management Accountant, you'll partner with Community Managers and Operations leaders across your portfolio of communities, turning financial data into clear, forward-looking insight that supports budgeting, forecasting and day-to-day decision-making. You'll be a trusted advisor to non-finance stakeholders, helping them understand their communities' financial performance and key drivers, and you'll build positive relationships with residents and committees along the way.

Your Impact

• Lead the preparation of annual budgets in partnership with Community Managers, Operations and Resident Committees, ensuring budgets are well supported and clearly presented.
• Prepare and maintain rolling forecasts for your portfolio, highlighting emerging risks, opportunities and key financial trends.
• Prepare management reports and dashboards, using Power BI to highlight variances, trends and areas requiring attention.
• Conduct variance analysis and investigate significant movements, working with Operations to understand root causes and identify actions.
• Own the maintenance and accuracy of budgets within the ERP system for your portfolio of communities.
• Identify and lead improvements to management reporting, budgeting and forecasting processes, including standardising templates and championing Power BI to reduce manual reporting.
• Act as the primary finance point of contact for your Community Managers, providing trusted financial advice and support while building strong relationships with Resident Committees and visiting communities as required.
• Provide guidance and coaching to junior members of the Community Finance Team, including Assistant Accountants.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years’ experience in management accounting, FP&A, finance business partnering or a similar role.
• Demonstrated experience preparing budgets, forecasts and variance analysis.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience using Power BI or similar reporting and dashboard tools.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate financial detail into clear, accessible insights for non-finance stakeholders, including Resident Committees and residents.
• Ability to manage a portfolio of stakeholders and prioritise competing demands independently.
• Degree qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline, with CA/CPA (or equivalent) qualifications completed or in progress.
• Exposure to Retirement Living, Aged Care, Property Management or Body Corporate legislation is desirable but not essential. A valid Driver’s Licence and vehicle is also required for travel to communities as required.
