The Team Leader - Urban Forest will lead a skilled team in establishing and maintaining the City's urban forest and streetscapes areas, providing expert advice, while championing safety and delivering operational excellence.

In This Position, The Successful Candidate Will

• Operate and oversee the safe use of ride-on mowers and associated plant and equipment to maintain streetscapes, verges and landscaped areas
• Maintain unkempt residential verges and other City-managed streetscape areas in line with service standards and priorities
• Plan, coordinate and deliver maintenance activities in accordance with work schedules
• Conduct pre-start inspections, maintain records and report on completed works
• Support the development and performance of team members under the guidance of the Streetscapes Supervisor
• Promote a safe work environment through hazard identification, risk management, compliance and preventative equipment checks

What We Are Looking For

To be successful, you must be able to demonstrate:

• Experience leading a horticultural or arboriculture maintenance team
• Practical experience operating mowing equipment, including ride-on mowers, in a commercial, local government or contractor environment
• Strong problem-solving skills in streetscape maintenance
• Sound understanding of verge maintenance requirements and the ability to effectively manage and prioritise works across residential and streetscape areas
• Ability to lead by example, empower and motivate teams

Essential Requirements

• Certificate III or higher in Horticulture, Arboriculture or equivalent.
• Current MR driver's licence
• White Card
• Current National Police clearance (less than three months old). Please note: This is not essential to apply for the role but will be required at a later stage as it is an appointment condition.

Desirable Requirements

• Operator tickets for operating machinery such as Loader, Forklift and Chainsaw.
• Basic Worksite Traffic Management.
• Chemical Application and Spraying Certification, Prepare and Apply Chemicals AHCCHM303A.
