The Role

This role is about creating physical and emotional safety, building trust gradually and providing support without judgement or confrontation.

You’ll Support a Customer To

  • Maintain daily routines and wellbeing
  • Participate in meaningful activities at home
  • Build independence through patient, age-appropriate support
  • Receive consistent and reassuring communication
  • Exercise choice, dignity and control
  • Engage with support at their own pace

You Will Also

  • Follow Behaviour Support Plans, risk controls and agreed strategies
  • Recognise triggers and early signs of distress
  • Respond safely to verbal escalation, threats or behaviours that may present a physical risk
  • Maintain appropriate observation and situational awareness
  • Complete accurate progress notes and incident reports

We’re Looking For Someone Who Is

Experienced in complex mental health or intellectual disability support

Calm and non-confrontational during escalations

Able to maintain personal and customer safety

Observant and responsive to changing risks

Comfortable when planned support cannot proceed

Clear and consistent in communication

Accurate with documentation and incident reporting

Respectful of privacy and professional boundaries

Willing to complete multiple buddy shifts and all required training

Reliable, resilient and accountable

Essential Requirements

Demonstrated experience in complex mental health or intellectual disability support

NDIS Worker Screening Clearance, or willingness to obtain

Current Driver Licence

Australian working rights

Ability to follow detailed support and safety plans

Ability to respond safely to verbal and physical escalation

Strong documentation and incident-reporting skills

Willingness to complete all customer-specific training and buddy shifts

Commitment to trauma-informed, non-discriminatory and person-centred practice
