Tax Accountant - APAC/EMEA
Sims Lifecycle Services
Tax Accountant – APAC & EMEA | Sims Limited
Mascot, Sydney | Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days home
A$82,000 – A$102,000 + excellent benefits
Are you working in tax but ready for a role with more variety, autonomy and international exposure?
We’re looking for a Tax Accountant – APAC & EMEA to join Sims Limited in Sydney.
This is definitely not just a compliance or “check the numbers” role.
You’ll support tax compliance and reporting across multiple APAC jurisdictions, including Australia, New Zealand, Japan, India and Singapore, while also getting involved in a wide range of ad hoc EMEA and international projects.
One week you might be supporting corporate tax, GST/VAT, withholding tax or transfer pricing.
The next, you could be:
- Investigating the tax requirements of a new country or market
- Comparing tax compliance requirements across different jurisdictions
- Researching a complex cross-border issue and recommending a way forward
- Pulling and analysing data to understand the full picture
- Reviewing how tax reporting could work within a new ERP system
- Supporting wider international tax and business-change projects
The key difference? You won’t always be given the answers – or even all the data.
We need someone who is naturally curious and prepared to investigate. You’ll work out what information you need, find it, analyse it, research the issue and use your findings to help develop practical solutions.
Who would suit this role?
You could already be working within an in-house tax team, accountancy practice or another tax environment and be looking for a gear change into something broader and more commercially interesting.
You’ll ideally have 2–4 years' tax experience with previous APAC tax exposure, alongside a degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax or similar. You may already be professionally qualified, part-qualified or working towards your professional qualifications.
Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who:
- thinks beyond the obvious
- asks questions
- enjoys research
- can work independently
- gets into the detail
- comes up with solutions
- and gets things done.
You’ll also be comfortable using Excel and working with financial data and systems; experience with tools such as PivotTables, XLOOKUP and Power Query would be valuable.
Why Sims?
This is an opportunity to develop your tax career within a global organisation, gaining exposure to multiple jurisdictions, cross-border transactions, systems, operational change and international project work.
There is also a genuine continuous-improvement element to the position, with opportunities to contribute to the automation, standardisation and improvement of tax reporting and compliance processes.
Mascot, Sydney
A$82,000 – A$102,000 + excellent benefits
Hybrid: 3 days office / 2 days home following the initial induction period
If you have APAC tax experience and want a role where curiosity, initiative and problem-solving are genuinely valued, we’d love to hear from you.
