We are seeking an experienced Payroll Officer to join a high-performing payroll team. This role is ideal for a payroll professional who enjoys working in a complex environment, has strong legislative knowledge, and takes pride in delivering accurate, compliant, and customer-focused payroll services.

Managing payrolls with an annual value exceeding $80 million, you will play a key role in ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting process improvement and payroll excellence across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver weekly and fortnightly Australian and New Zealand payrolls within required timeframes and service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Review and analyse payroll verification reports, identifying and resolving data inconsistencies.
  • Interpret and apply multiple Awards and Enterprise Agreements (EA's), ensuring employees are paid correctly and payroll systems are configured accurately.
  • Maintain employee records within SAP, ensuring all personnel changes are appropriately authorised.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, payroll procedures, and legislative requirements.
  • Prepare and process STP files, Payday Filing submissions, and other statutory reporting obligations.
  • Complete end-of-month payroll processes and reconciliations.
  • Support accurate payroll processing for both waged and salaried employees.
  • Customer Service & Stakeholder Management
  • Provide professional, accurate, and timely payroll support to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Respond to payroll enquiries and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Partner with site-based payroll personnel, providing guidance on payroll transactions, award interpretation, pay rates and EA provisions.
  • Deliver detailed payroll reporting and analytical insights to support business decision-making.

Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, enhance efficiencies and minimise errors through automation.
  • Participate in payroll-related projects as a Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Conduct testing and validation for legislative updates, EA changes and system enhancements.

To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Possess

  • Experience in payroll services within a medium to large organisation.
  • Strong knowledge of Australian and New Zealand payroll legislation.
  • Experience processing payroll across both Australia and New Zealand.
  • Proven experience interpreting and applying multiple Enterprise Agreements and Awards.
  • Experience managing payroll for both waged and salaried workforces.
  • Operational knowledge of KRONOS and SAP HR & Payroll systems preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
  • High level time management and prioritisation skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
