St Patrick’s College Mackay is a Catholic secondary college within the Diocese of Rockhampton, catering to approximately 1,500 students from Year 7 to Year 12 across two campuses. Role Description
This full-time on-site Secondary School Teacher role will commence in January 2027 and is located in Mackay, QLD. Teachers will design and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned lessons, assess student learning, and provide timely feedback to support student progress. Responsibilities include planning and preparing learning materials, implementing differentiated teaching strategies, managing classroom behaviour, and maintaining a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. Teachers will collaborate with colleagues, communicate effectively with families and the wider community, and participate in professional learning, school events and co-curricular activities. The role also involves integrating Catholic values into teaching and learning and supporting the holistic development of secondary students.
Qualifications
- Relevant tertiary teaching qualification and registration, or eligibility for registration, with the Queensland College of Teachers.
- Subject knowledge and teaching capability in one or more of the following areas: Industrial Technology and Design, Digital Technology, Religious Education, English, Humanities, Mathematics, Science or HPE.
- Strong lesson planning and teaching skills, with the ability to design differentiated and engaging learning experiences.
- Understanding of curriculum, assessment and effective strategies to monitor and support student progress.
- Clear and professional communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, families and the wider community.
- Understanding of and commitment to Catholic education, the mission of the Diocese of Rockhampton and the ethos of St Patrick’s College.
- Experience with classroom management, student assessment and the use of data to inform teaching and learning.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development, reflective teaching practice and collaborative learning.
- Ability to support diverse learners and promote a positive, inclusive and respectful school environment.
- Eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment.
- A desire to serve the communities within the Diocese of Rockhampton.
