About the Opportunity
An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Mine Geologist to join our Golden Grove operation in Western Australia. This site-based role reports to the Geology Superintendent and operates on an 8:6 roster.
Your focus will be on coordinating and executing geological functions of the Geology Department on site including operations and production geology, grade control drilling, geological confidence and risk assessment, geological modelling, and support resource modelling functions.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Promoting a culture of teamwork and collaboration within the Mine Geology and across the multi‐disciplinary teams.
- Mentoring and upskilling of Project Mine Geologists, Mine Geologists, Graduate Mine Geologists and Geological Technicians. Encouraging and driving continuous improvement to deliver high-performance outcomes.
- Managing high-quality grade control processes to support safe and efficient ore extraction to comply with metal production plans.
- Ensuring geological data is collected and stored in an efficient quality-controlled manner that aligns with company standards. Ensuring the maintenance of accurate grade control tracking systems.
- Coordinating grade control drill programs to ensure accurate targeting, designs, tracking and scheduling to align and support the short and long term mine plans. Providing regular communication and direction for the drilling contractor and ensuring safety and quality controls are implemented and maintained throughout the drilling, logging, and sampling processes.
- Data analysis to improve the understanding of grade distribution and controls on the polymetallic mineralisation and ensuring geological modelling is completed to the required standard in a timely manner, aligned to the mine plan.
- Proficiency in orebody interpretation and providing clear communication to operational and technical stakeholders on the geological confidence and managing the geological risks associated with stopes in the mine schedule and LOM.
- Problem-solve stope and ROM reconciliation variance, ensuring weekly, monthly and annual reconciliation of produced material and regular coordination with mining, metallurgy, site services, and contractor stakeholders.
About You
Our ideal candidate will have extensive mine geology and diamond drilling logging experience in base metal or gold underground mining settings, plus proven personnel leadership experience.
Other key skills, experience, and qualifications:
- A tertiary qualification in geology or a related discipline.
- Familiarity with underground grade control practices, including stockpile management, face mapping, stope inspections, and daily, weekly and monthly reporting.
- Experience logging diamond drillholes, balancing high attention to detail with timely execution to enable daily core processing.
- Ideally, some experience with mining software such as Vulcan, Leapfrog, Micromine, QGIS, Deswik, and Geobank.
- A current C-class manual driver’s licence.
- Current Senior First Aid ticket.
